People putting their pronouns/genders/MBTI types/star signs in their profiles is fundamentally the same as how newspapers and magazines would put author photos in their bios, or books putting them on the back/inside dust cover

that knowing your identity, who you were and where you were coming from, gave useful context in understanding and interpreting your words

(tho at least the old form acknowledged that your ~tru identity~ wasn’t whatever you worked up in your personal narrative but what others take you as)
