did u know that teaching ‘sentence diagrams’ is not part of the school curriculum in the uk. is it just a purestrain dewey thing?

We didn’t actually diagram sentences but we were from early on given “Daily Edit” sentences on the blackboard, malformed, to correct in our journals as a warming-up exercise at the beginning of class

Which was then demonstrated live, and explained w/r/to “subjects” and “predicates” and “noun phrases” and shit I never learned cause I just instinctively corrected it to sound right
