Our Speed Queen washer is pretty great, after 10+ years of use (and I don\u2019t know how old it was when we moved in).

The Speed Queen dryer died last year, and we couldn\u2019t find a washer we liked to match a new dryer. They seem not terribly reliable in general? Maybe we need to look for a new Speed Queen.

Oh, the washers in particular - for drying I got a Samsung that beeps a ridiculously long and cheery song at me when it finishes a cycle (and, @discoursedrome, those purchases were heavily informed by Consumer Reports reviews, so). A lot of matched washer-dryer pairs really only have one good one and rely on people\u2019s aesthetic perfectionism to carry the other.
