part of it I just wanted an escape from hellworld, I grew up in a nice! suburb but everything interesting was ground off, I went to college and it was only in the specifically wierdo supergenius subsector I felt at home but education is a stage
and it was the 2000s, social media and reality TV and the way to escape hellworld was to be famous and eventually you realize LA is built on “be famous” and it’s terrible, every Angelino or celebrity of sense spends dearly to not live in LA or celebrity
and as cliche as it was Portland was perfect, it was absolutely the opening sketch song to Portlandia, it was a normiedom that WASNT hellworld and you didn’t NEED to escape and I lay down the burden of feeling I needed to change the world and found something I could let change me and that’s just dead, I don’t feel it anymore, it’s a West Coast City now, (and as a rock I’m as much to blame for the landslide as any) and uh I don’t know WHAT the escape hatch is now
