This got me thinking.

I could definitely see something where\u2026 Brad and Janet, instead of being striaght-laced suburban prudes, are hipsterish, aimless urbanites, whose most outstanding flaw is not their naivete or their uptightness but their casual nihilism, their \u201clol nothing matters\u201d, and its attendant lack of fire-in-the-belly.

and in the place of Dr.Frank-N-Furter there would be some sort of\u2026 Half-Mad but Terribly Earnest Knight, or a Fatherly, Jovial Barbarian King. Someone who represented traditionalism not as something \u201cMiserable but Good For You\u201d, forced down upon you by the powers-that-be, but traditionalism as\u2026 the opportunity to shed the malaise of modernist meaninglessness. (in the same sense that Dr.F-N-F\u2019s hedonism was the opportunity to shed hypocritical notions of propriety) Not \u201cyou must believe, or else\u201d, but \u201clook, here is something worth believing in, if you dare to.\u201d

and instead of a hidden castle full of hedonists, it would be\u2026 something like the secret meeting place of a knightly order.

Maybe the motif of combat in place of the motif of sex. Confronting the modern man\u2019s overwhelming fear of physical pain, and introducing him to something he never thought he could feel\u2013 the thrill of battle.
