when I was in Maui for my mom’s yay-no-cancer vacation a few years ago, I spent a night in one of the hotel hot tubs with some guys from a big energy-services type contractor firm, I think they were known for trucks with orange hoods or something?

this was close enough to the Bush years that energy/military contractors still felt kinda relevant, maybe they moved to the Bakken to become another plotline or maybe I dunno

anyway they said that the fix was in, Okinawa was too politically hot for no real gain and Saipan was going to be built up to replace it
