This just came to my attention because as this map is constructed, there was no direct federal route between LA and Vegas, which is again like really weird\u00a0</p>\n</blockquote>\n\n<p>There was a <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_state_highway_renumbering_%28California%29\" target=\"_blank\">big renumbering of highway routes in California in 1964</a> to deal with the way that a history of road construction by multiple authorities left absurd disjunctions and redundancies between named, numbered, and natural through-routes.<br/></p>\n<img src=\"/media/tumblr_o83rgnFpNV1tn7avwo1_640_2a8fa4daef7f.jpg\" />", "thumbnail_url": "https://kontextmaschine.com/media/tumblr_o83rgnFpNV1tn7avwo1_640_2a8fa4daef7f.jpg", "thumbnail_width": 564, "thumbnail_height": 804}
