hard to understand what u mean b/c i lived in portland in 1993 and it was so different, imo so much better, the massive deindustrialization in nw portland had only rly just begun in 1993 and ppl still had manufacturing jobs instead of service & entertainment jobs and basically it was a cool, rainy, p blue collar town. it started to get a rep for whatever it has a rep for in the late 1990s and then the dot com boom brought in lots of people who NEEDED condos and “good design” and that’s when the city took on its present character in a huge way imo
