Liberals who are tempted to jump on the bandwagon of using “leftist San Francisco” as a punching bag would do well to note that the only substantively “progressive” thing about SF is that it’s where the gays are. That’s it. The mayor endorsed Bloomberg for president in 2020, and SF made exponentially more national headlines for recalling its progressive DA than for having had one in the first place. So with the exception of law-and-order rants delivered by reactionary pundits that sound indistinguishable from a speech by the mayor of SF, the punching is liable to consist entirely of mocking references to articles like this one.
It’s not in good faith, folks! It’s not about “crime”! SF is a useful punching bag for conservatives not because of facts about local politics but because of a general countercultural attitude and openness to alternative lifestyles that, in spite of everything, it continues to abstractly represent in the cultural imagination. Worth noting as well that as recently as the 2000s there’d be someone who knew which person at the courthouse to ask, and you’d hire that person to go ask. And there’d be someone at the courthouse, probably several someones, whose whole job was “be asked, and hand the asker the relevant paper”.

Staying up til 8 is just so much more trivial when you only sleep 6 hours a night
So far what I’m attributing to downstream effects of the anxiety zeroing, where I went from having an anxiety disorder to not processing anxiety at all:
I can’t feel guilt, shame, loss, regret, worry, or terror, and trauma rolls right off me
I don’t feel in any worse mood as I get tired, and only sleep 6 hours a night
It’s much easier falling asleep, I can do it despite much more light, noise, awareness of consequential activity to follow waking, or of an alarm due to wake me at some specific point
I can go any length of time without communication with others without our relationship being affected by feeling abandoned
I have no snacking impulse – previously I would eat between meals much more often in what wasn’t experienced as sensation-seeking grazing but reaction to actual hunger I no longer feel

Amazing being able to feel the muscles in my upper body so clearly now. With the bisexuality some of the androphilia triggers off myself (like how sex with women is better now because “male sexual pleasure is a turn-on” includes my own) but the feel of my muscled male torso and arms does nothing, like trying to tickle yourself
