Shame feels to me like dread of stepping off the socially-accepted precipice/dread of becoming an unworthy type of person in my own eyes.

Shame and guilt both seem like heavily socialized emotions to me. Like, their primitives definitely include a component of fear, which by itself can show up in contexts totally devoid of any social weight, but most of the things that we feel shame and guilt response to seem to be learned from interacting with other people.

Can speak from personal experience, shame and fear are definitely linked by way of anxiety

A definithion of "Ownership" I'd like some feedback on: You own somethig if there is a scenario where the state allows you to kill in order to keep it.

But for most the ways I can parse that to make sense, the state first starts to constitute itself by killing in the name of property, and that’s weird

Been reading about the history of nuclear weapons and chuckling every time I hear about how the development of high-altitude anti-aircraft missiles and the switch to low-altitude penetration missions made it more important that bombs be retarded

So, mentally and behaviorally pulled it back together but finding myself limited by the difficulty of making new friends past 30. The girls I’ve dallied with… it’s actually pretty impressive how deep you can go into customizing around someone’s psyche and not actually form any sort of personal connection.

Luckily the anxiety zeroing has apparently killed any need for human connection and I’m just fine by myself indefinitely, but I do think it would be better otherwise.

Seeming to me the thing around Hogwarts Legacy is that people who’ve been Harry Potter People all along have already taken up some position regarding everything but the advertising campaign has hit a broader, less internet-poisoned market of “hey, remember those wizard books you were into two goddamn decades ago? Here’s a game!”

In a way I guess like the 1993 X-Wing and ‘95 Dark Forces were for Star Wars fans

And that radically more people who have never been Quidditch players, or into wizard rock, or moaning “read another book”, still have positive memories associated with the brand, as something two decades ago they never got obsessed with

I assume it’s about e-commerce stuff? Like, there are a bunch of customers with carts full of goods, but the hacker has them in his cart.

we need more diversity in pro-killing-cops ideology. likes theres far right and far left pro-killing-cops ideology but we need a centrism of police murder. killing a cop is a symbolic act of participation in the state as performance. a cop lives in a role they play, at the very least shooting at them, is what gives that role verisimilitude! a play doesnt just have a protagonist, it has an antagonist, if that part is missingthe story doesnt work. its like aztec sacrifice.

People in the early 21st century: Future anthropologists are going to have such a hard time understanding our culture lol

Future anthropologists: Culture in the early 21st century was such a cesspit of uninspired, self-referential garbage that few scholars have seen any point in even trying to understand it.
