Proposed: was the “slacker” early end of the 90s about Gen X charting a new life course where your 20s were kind of a wash before the real stuff started?

(And might millennial me have some hope things kick off for us in our 40s?)

This being a difference from Boomers who had roles to slot into right out of their teens?

This could add some texture to the “oh boo hoo, 90s movies are about how much it sucks to have a reliable white collar job” criticism – Office Space (1999) understood as a complaint about a white collar sector whose entry levels no longer offered any agency – no influence on actual business operations (“what would you say you do here?”) but preparing TPS reports as basically Spreadsheet Operators, clerks serving up inputs to an unappreciative executive cohort that doesn’t have anything more to offer but another decade of age

For “Frasier,” when Kelsey Grammer created a groundbreaking character for the ages, the rest of us reacted with hysteria and fear, like children watching a robot being brought to life for the first time in Frankenstein.

Weird set of occurrences as regards the secure possession of Darwin, my truck.

Was standing outside and the driftery guy who had left a book on my doorstep months ago (and I hadn’t seen since) asked me about my truck, and how it related to this truck that he had noticed that used to be out front, in a way that pretty clearly implied he had been involved in stealing it and was surprised I had it back. (When I mentioned that I missed the canopy, he volunteered that he knew a guy, who I bet was the one it was sold to)

Then I went to the supermarket and after shopping found my truck keys were detached from their key ring clip and had to scour the parking lot and tell customer service but on further inspection they had apparently detached in the cab and fallen into a crack in the cushions.

Oh, I realized why all around the junction of my legs with waist was sore yesterday: I’m now at the point my legs are recovered enough to start operating with knees bent squatting, which was earlier a position I could move through but not retain stability in.

This clears up all remaining timing issues and hinkiness in my step, which I now realize was a matter of gathering up to push myself through one of those through-not-in arcs.

The soreness is at least “this is getting more capable and will handle this level of strain fine in the future” ache, it’s really most noticeable waking up in bed and is muted when I get back upright and gravity starts compressing tissue along the axis of my spine again

Trump: ‘All Arrests Are Politically Motivated As The Legal System Is The Codified Exercise Of Political Power’

quasi-normalcy:

“This indictment is obviously an attempt by the Democrats to use against me the complex webs of power relations that influence the nature of rights and consequences in a given society and that we conceptualize as a legal system,” Trump said before quoting verbatim a passage from political philosopher Michel Foucault that reads, “The judges of normality are present everywhere. We are in the society of the teacher-judge, the doctor-judge, the educator-judge, the ‘social-worker’-judge; it is on them that the universal reign of the normative is based.”

Everyone in the vicinity of a Starbucks, at all times, must be carrying a weapon. In fact, ideally, every Starbucks patron should be carrying multiple weapons, so that in the event of being held up by an armed assailant, they’re able to surrender the weapon of their choice rather than have it used against them.

If this makes Starbucks an unpleasant place to loiter, well, it’s an unpleasant place already.

I mean I’m just here for the cakes… 👀

Thank you, tumblr user @screampotato, for clarifying that you’re only here for the pastries and that you’re really a secret government agent posing as a tumblr user, and that, even though you’re trying to determine my identity and location, I should still order from the Starbucks at the corner of Telegraph and Ashby, but with extra cream and no caramel fucking drizzle, and please for the love of Christ would you STOP LIMPING because it makes me feel like I’m wasting my fucking taxpayer money

All the little muscles at the junction of my legs and waist are too sore for much bending, walking, or standing, and some pretty strong rain comes and goes, so today’s an inside day.
