my quality of life has improved tenfold ever since i was introduced to breezewiki, a site that exists solely to remove the bloat from fandom.com wikis. no more ads, quizzes, random autoplaying videos, popups, recommended pages from other sites, or discord server member lists. just the wiki. these things are finally readable again

BreezeWiki is SOOOO good! they even have an instruction manual on their site for adding an extension to your browser that will automatically redirect you to the BreezeWiki version of any Fandom link you happen to visit, which has been an absolute game-changer for me. i’ve literally already forgotten what regular Fandom pages looked like, it’s beautiful.

i just discovered today that they ALSO have a function (if you install the auto-redirect extension) that will usually stop you to let you know if a Fandom wiki you’re visiting has a non-Fandom alternative you can visit instead. for example i was trying to look up a Zelda thing today and was greeted with this message:

so yeah, love the work they’re doing over there! can’t recommend BreezeWiki enough. i wish an inevitable and humiliating death to Fandom and i’m very grateful for intrepid heroes like these folks.

i’m enamored by the specificity of this blog. like this is the only post they’ve ever made. this account was solely created for this special little guy. does he know?

Basically every time I see a picture of Aella these days I first remember that years ago I stopped shampooing my hair on her advice and it looks great, I notice her hair looks great in exactly the same way, and I feel a kinship, in that order

Something I’ve maybe mentioned as an aside is that ever since the personality change took me from straight to bi I actually can’t feel interest towards men I knew before, even queer ones, because I apparently already have database entries on them marked “Not Eligible Target”

It gets me thinking about deep, consciously inaccessible memory.

One other thing I probably mentioned in passing is ever since the original brain infection the memory and pattern recognition parts of my audio processing center apparently got nerves crossed because ever since I can -choose- to hear songs I have exposure to (which might just be forgettable Top 40 pop from when I was 4) in ambient outdoor background noises

Like last night I had the window open and could pick “Big Iron” out of water dripping from rain-wetted trees and I think a neighbor’s basement drying machine

Anyway that also draws on unconscious memory cause I’ll regularly be like “huh, I forgot this song even had this part”

This would honestly be a huge improvement for motorcycle trips, though I’m not sure if I’ll ever ride again for reasons including

I actually learned in college about American commune moments of the Second, Third, and Fourth (the hippie Age of Aquarius) Great Awakenings, they’re remarkably similar

“What if there was a place where all you and your weirdo friends could live apart from the rest of the world in a way that supported you through common enterprise” is exactly what my small town boarding school fantasy is about and it is not conceived as a commune for good reason

Oh yeah, I took a “US Religions” course in college, that one was great. One of my takeaways was “Jim Jones wasn’t actually that special until the meth made him super paranoid”, which we spent a week or two on. Fun to learn about, like, right before Far Cry 5, the one about fighting an apocalyptic religious commune, came out.

Weird to read over the Twitter threads like “I just can’t believe all these historical figures reputed as great geniuses had IQs as high as 140”, because like, I test around 175. People can be smart! Someone’s gonna be the long tail.

Like yeah, there’s a whole bell curve to it!

“Well the only people I’ve met below 70 had Down Syndrome, that doesn’t count”.

Yeah, I’ll let you know first time I meet someone above 130 without autism.

Ever sit under a big multi colored parachute like this as a kid? I remember it. I think we should give kids as many intense colorful experiences like this as possible so that all early memories seem to take place in some strange alternate world of pure color and platonic geometry. Recalling childhood memories should feel like receiving a vision from a different kind of life form.

You know I wonder how much delay in ending the Vietnam War came not from military/geostrategic considerations but (sympathetic, understandable) apprehension for how giving antiwar forces a win would affect the domestic balance of power and culture

cc: @petermorwood: should we bother getting one of these, or have we got a plain old sword we can repurpose? 😏 (…without destroying it, of course…)

Oh wait, I was wondering how I would keep using these smashing muscles after everything was done AND disappointed with trying to blunt-smash logs through a splitter wedge drill-secured into a stump…
