more sci-fi/fantasy dynastic empires should feature the emperor or empress just cutting out the middle-parent and cloning themselves. I want scenarios where they make like five clones and then force their potential heirs to fight it out and see who the best (evilest? most willing to sit back and watch their siblings murder each other?) mini-me is. I want “I’m nothing like you” yelled at your clone-parent over treasonous regicidal family dinner with like, 12 identical imperial portraits hanging overhead. I want the death of the self in pursuit of immortality. I just think this could really take dynastic familial dysfunction to the next level.

Alright, 4.5 more yards of topsoil, which is 3 bedloads. The twisting pitching motion exhausts my hip flexors, so after 2 I’m swaying my hips like I’m trying to pick up a whole ship of sailors and after 3 I’m walking like I did.

For every 2 days of topsoil work I do I need to start taking a scoop of creatine at 9 PM for four whole weeks to supply energy for the muscle growth that ensues

(The issue is really that the energy demand continues even as I sleep so I can’t just let the creatine run down to nothing overnight and then gas up for the next day)

Actually you know what maybe some of this is the old post-exertional symptom, I haven’t really thought of that one in a while it was so faded but if anything would bring it out it’s this topsoil work.

There is a really weird orphan commercial space near me where I think decades-ago developers were like “this space carved out of like a warehouse plot is right on people’s daily commutes!” but it’s not big enough for like, a Darden restaurant and it’s somewhere that would honestly be kind of weird to just pull over and stop without much foot traffic…

It could only really practically be used for a cafe or something that really faces the park next to it (it had been incredibly shitty cheap pizza squares really serving the youth leagues playing at the nearby fields, but they moved), maybe there’s an opening as the neighborhood develops, and it’s frustrating me because that’s not my project at all but unless I like, find and support whoever’s it is I’m gonna have to keep looking at this boarded-up shell all the time.

Dealing with a tree trimming situation where I want a tree to expand in one direction but I simultaneously don’t want it to get totally thick in that direction until something underneath gets enough sun the leading edge of growth goes up further

Been interesting watching the knowledge that Trotsky was assassinated with an ice axe finally be normatized after so long when it was regularly called an ice pick

(It kind of does look like a mining pick, but not like the stiletto-like blades used for breaking up ice for serving in drinks)

Appreciate that this summer topsoil Strawberry Field-building program has alternating sections where I Do Things and ones where I Do Nothing, but the rest days are kind of a load-bearing part of the plan, it doesn’t work without them, so Doing Nothing satisfies the new personality’s constant drive to Do Something

One downside of getting built: with the muscles more strongly aligning the body in place less pressure is born by the synovial fluid of the joints and you can’t crack them as often or as satisfyingly anymore.
