I remember in 9th grade our gifted (“PEN”) classes were formatted as variations of core classes, I was in the “science” one, but also I guess maybe for faculty/facility utilization reasons they had some of the “Life Skills” (Down Syndrome but not so far gone they had to go to the Intermediate Unit) kids? And voguish pedagogy had us “making connections” and helping them learn in team activities, like imagine how imbalanced team projects normally are except now it’s literally retards paired with geniuses
Anyway this was how I ended up spending a good chunk of the year making a colored pencil pamphlet about firetrucks mostly aiming for my little cousin who was getting a copy.

When I was in LA Jack Nicholson gave me shit about the contents of my cart in a supermarket checkout line, not even kidding. In the Albertsons on Alvarado there was this dumpy old guy behind me wearing mirrored shades and out of nowhere he said “I can tell you don’t have a girlfriend, ‘cause you don’t have any fish in there”. And it just went from there. He asked what I was doing in LA and when I explained the spec script I was writing he said “fuck, that sounds terrible”.
Eventually he put his groceries on the conveyor belt and it was like, Capri Sun and boxes of microwave burritos. I was like “dude, what the hell”, and he said that yeah, one of my friends lost his job and I’m buying food for his family to eat, ‘cause god knows I’m not about to let him stay at my place again.
It was all really charming and towards the end I was starting to suspect, but I was like “no, Jack Nicholson isn’t that old and decrepit” and a short drive and google later, well.

Yeah I am totally TJ-at-Monticello up to getting clever custom stuff done. The backyard is already going to have a stair from the upper to the lower part with a banister with a counterweighted internally-mounted pulley so you can bring out a platter of food and it’ll smoothly glide it down to people eating there (where I intend to have a banquet table maybe convertible from a weight bench?)

I ended up on a totally weird middle school elective schedule cause they were like “oh he’s smart, we gotta skip him to Computer 2” even though that whole sequence was really typing and I didn’t know how to touch-type
Means I never got to take Home Ec, which I regretted for a while but at this point what was I gonna learn in 7th grade?
Means that my schedule worked out so I took shop class (one quarter but double-length “block scheduled”) to the second level, which leaves me with a bit of CAD familiarity and honestly some pre-computerized diagramming mentality
Alright, went to clean up the lower backyard, do more grass weeding in the side yard, then went to finish smashing Blueberry Hill but I’m closer to the energy limits of my creatine dose and it was another tease, only halfway. Then I blocked some parking spaces for the crew coming tomorrow (at 8 AM!) to get up around power lines and trim the last untouched tree on the property.
Good enough. (Putting those up, my pajama trunks were constantly falling off my ass – even if the elastic’s still good at the waist size I had been wearing these at, it’s no good)
