To reiterate the basic chain structure of power:

strength < skill < tactics < strategy < logistics < politics

Morale is a real if intangible thing; high morale will increase effectiveness (to a finite limit), low morale will decrease effectiveness (to a finite but negative limit).

There are five basic inputs that affect morale:

• food, drink, and intoxicants
• sex
• lodging
• rest and recreation
• a sense of superiority

A wise leader will ensure these factors are provided regularly and at as high quality as practical.

If any are unprovided, forces will tend to autonomously scrounge them from fellows or extract them from surroundings. This sourcing will generally reduce logistic burden but increase political burden.

I love how this show is so blatant about its metadynamics, and by extension all shows’ metadynamics: “Character X is Archetype Y, with Trait Z! but in this episode, Character X exhibits Trait -Z, which is really also implicit in Archetype Y, isn’t it?”

I have been having ridiculous mood swings these past 4 or 5 days. Complete cycle every 10 hours or so, from my dreams I can tell it doesn’t even stop in my sleep.

At first I didn’t even have the awareness to notice.

At second I didn’t understand.

Completely correct. Ever since I’ve had crushes I would be crazy crushing around this time of year. Even a lot of my fall crushes started this time and got rekindled the following scholastic year.
