Maurizio Bongiovanni (1979) is an italian artist. His work is placed right in the middle between realism and abstraction. This kind of research is mainly expressed in his birds series. In these oil on canvases streams of colors are generated from realistic colorful birds, in a perfect mix between different kinds of art styles. The result is stunning.

Somehow I only just found out about this real fucking show from 1997 about a saxophone player who gets struck by lightning and gains the superpower of having his brain ‘tuned to the frequency of evil’. Guess who guest starred in two episodes? The President!

What’re you talking about? Is this the print edition?

So far the Democrats have noticed that an overlapping coalition of minorities, professionals, urbanites, and media support them, and concluded this means they can do whatever they decide

So far the Republicans have established that the electoral apparatus supports them and concluded they’re within rights to insist on what they decide

Democrats have announced that they will drag out the appointment process as long as possible

Republicans cannot afford to break unity while the Gorsuch nomination goes through

This is widely understood as a victory for the Democrats, at least by the Democrats

So the Oregon recreational marijuana program emphasized farm-to-laboratory-to-outlet tracking (nominally to prevent diversion, really to keep industry buildout in-state, effect is market was hived off), then mandatory labeling for THC content (which is the only clear indicator with on-site or on- duty sampling prohibited and grower volume limits means strains are always changing) and original per-day weight purchase limits. Meanwhile the rise of extracts (vape, wax, shatter, edible butter) means there’s less pressure towards smokability

Result is crumbly, dry-ass flower that leaves kief all over the inside of the container and practically needs remedial humidation from the second it’s open

do you honestly have a humidor for your weed

(anyway the dry stuff grinds easier)

I don’t have a humidor and I’d prefer to be able to continue living like that

The dry stuff grinds down to a dust bigger enough than kief crystals to not pass through my grinder’s screen but fine enough that they incinerate more than vaporize when exposed to flame and come through harsh as hell

Nah second thought this is totally a Neal Stephenson thing Will Gibson wouldn’t write this schlock

it can’t be neal stephenson unless it gets pseudo-dickian and incomprehensible as fuck in the last act. what’s the twist

It’s not Dickian, it’s literally Victorian, Stephenson maximizes for thread elaboration like a by-the-word serializer and then ends things by exhausted abandon

i mean philip-k-dickian in that the sense of fugue-state dissociation from ‘reality’ gets cranked way the fuck up out of nowhere. the basic structure of every stephenson book is established way back in the big u where the first half of the book is a funny light satire on dorm life at a land-grant college and by the end it turns out everyone might be mind-controlled by a fucking box fan

I came out here, to this point, to this place, hoping against all hope and despite signs and portends suggesting otherwise that I might, somehow, find myself having a pleasant experience, and yet here I stand, alone against the world, feeling assaulted, attacked on all fronts, knowing not my enemy’s name nor his face nor whether our battle is done.
