Was in a bar with the most steampunk guy ever - shortish Ottomanish dude in a neat charcoal suit with an intricate jeweled lapel pin. Looked at his card as he opened a tab, apparently he’s America’s foremost philosopher of torture.
If someone approached me to spy against my country I wouldn’t even know where to go to turn them in
seriously, I just thought about that, then I googled everything I could think of, like
“report espionage contact”
“turn in spies”
and it was all pop culture product and product fandom
Looked up the FBI counterintelligence division and it was a pleasant “what we do” that was 2 clicks away from the agency tip form that must lead to the same slush pile crazies fill

on further thought I’d call my congressman’s district office and patiently try to sound not crazy while I asked them for a referral
(yes, realistically you would tell the security forces associated with the spyworthy program you had access to, enough people have taken the time to point this out that I’ll spare you the burden)
(so several people have independently written in saying the answer to “if someone solicited you to spy, who would you even turn them in to” is “if you had access to anything worth spying on there’d be a security apparatus affiliated with that”, which doesn’t address the ‘80s comedy premise where the Russkies want you to, say, sit on your porch under an airbase flightpath and count the jets coming and going for many ruble, but fair)

(an amusing thing about this whole exercise is that I wondered out loud “huh, what if the Russians tried to flip me” and in response multiple acquaintances volunteered the previously unknown info that they were involved in NatSec-adjacent roles and this is how they set up their defenses)
