Verbs and flattery, that’s an improvement.

That probably comes off more venomous than I actually feel but it’s too good a line to delete, to the extent there’s a moral there it’s not “slut! jezebel!!” but “if the only rule structuring your hierarchy is voluntarism, power will inevitably follow charisma”, perhaps crossed with one of my favorite morals, “awareness of does not equal exemption from”.
As a thinker/writer, entire stance is leveraged out from “though I know I’m crazy I don’t want to be put under control of the sane”, which is sympathetic but still a weak reed.
Generalizing to “though we’re crazy, we shouldn’t be put under control of the sane” shows charity and metaawareness but not particular mercy or wisdom, especially in how the “know” and “want” parts are elided.
Might be more pose than persona, a lot of the positions people put forward most actively are defensive negations of their actual selves, fetish/kinks are the big things where the shirt shows through the slashed doublet and the thing with Jim’s blog hoo boy
Kinda self-aware but not enough about how crafting a successful life has involved arranging submission of will to multiple sane lovers, specifically who being no less an accident of fate.
As such, basically reinventing catamacy. (From catamite. La LA la la la la la la la, catamacy damascene.) Like the thing, recent local maxima the ‘60s-‘70s, where petty charismatic authorities (professors, psychiatrists, priests/youth pastors/cult leaders, coaches) would engage in intense relationships with the vulnerable where they’d give them seriously valuable guidance through personal development AND using them as hot flexible little fucktoys.

Most people don’t know this, but the movie Shaft was based on a novel by one Ernest Tidyman. After the 1971 film was a surprise hit a sequel was inevitable. Tidyman decided to write the next volume about a diamond heist. Sure. Now, the diamond trade is heavily Jewish, so, naturally, he called the book Shaft Among the Jews. Apparently the inciting incident is that Shaft mistakes some Hasidic Jews for cowboys because of their hats and they wind up hiring him to solve a mystery.
(When I was in LA and in my Chandler phase one of my fifth-finished stories was titled Shabbos Goy and was about the protagonist being hired by some Orthodox to figure out who had been fucking with their eruv, because he could pursue leads on Saturday. It was going to head-fake in the direction of diamond drama before turning out to be about a rabbinical dispute.)

I hear people saying over the EU powers’s firmness in Greek debt negotiations, “it’s like they’re trying to bring about a Golden Dawn government”.
Well ok, what if they are? What if the rich nations have decided that no Greek government will be able to deliver a satisfactory deal, the only chance of seeing the restitution their banking and political systems depend on will require the direct, possibly violent seizure of Greek assets and government institutions, but the only way to legitimate this to their populaces will be by appeal to the postwar antifascist consensus?
It’s not without precedent. Yugoslavia spent the Cold War as socialist but managed to maintain substantial autonomy from the Soviets with an independent base of power, which means when the USSR fell they didn’t immediately feel obligated to tear everything down and install neoliberalism, so Western institutions cranked up pressure, blocked the good escape routes, supported ethnonationalist movements to weaken it and split it into pieces, then used the existence of ethnonationalist movements as pretext to go to war with, occupy, and generally bring to heel the pieces, with the result that there’s nothing left in that corner of the Balkans uppity enough to talk back to the powers that be.
