THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN ALL THE TIME

I’m playing Minecraft and it’s a problem, i keep getting dirt or sand worlds but I grew up Catholic* so I kept hearing not to build my house on sand so i have to dig
*it was kind of like Princess Bride, we got a wise older figure to read us the Good Parts Version
So there’s this thing where I have some crazy drinking resonance with butch lesbians - well I want to say butch but really I mean assertive/dominant, it’s happened with some femmes who were clearly in charge of their bitches - but if I find myself sitting next to one of them in a bar, always and every time like twenty minutes and two rounds of shots later we are BEST FRIENDS NOW FOREVER TIME TRAVELERS SCIENCE POWER!!!
Anyway that happened again tonight, it was sweet.

Reading the news has been kinda weird for a few years now.
Back in and out of college I commented at a few places in the early-mid 2000s back when you could feasibly catch up on all the politics blogs* in a day or two
I commented as Senescent: the original intention was to be somnolescent - “asleep”, but I was a fuckup and fucked it up, senescent means “old”, and by the time I noticed I already had the name. Sometimes I fucked it up as “scenescent”, with a c.

So a thing that I like about the ‘90s is that laser tag, which came from the hardware with which the U.S. Army got everyone together to rehearse World War III, lost out to paintball, which started with rednecks turning industrial tools on each other for the lulz.
Also obvs FPS multiplayer is a direct descendent of paintball; I was playing CTF and VIP and territories and scenario matches timed on offense/defense and limited-respawn team deathmatch back at the same time I played Doom II with Rhett Grumbkow on 14.4k direct dialup TCP and the best they could do was co-op with friendly fire.
Now that they’ve mostly reopened Angeles Crest, took the bike up to Newcomb’s Ranch. There’s parts left closed and I had to do the long way and took a few wrong paths, and it’s cold and unpleasant coming down from a lonely 5000ft mountain through clouds in the dark. Otherside the view was amazing, among the many components of this:
• chasing the twilight from valley to valley as the sun set over the ridges.
• Mount Wilson as clouds pass over the road saddle and below in the valleys, temporarily interrupting from view the GIANT UNEARTHLY UNCANNY ANTENNA FARM that broadcasts everything that gets broadcast.
And no I won’t post you shots tumblr ‘cause I didn’t take any shots, come look for yourself.
Since I was livejournal, and maybe years before. It’s about Giant Drag! I might have even done them once on livejournal ha, ha.
So here’s the problem with all the witty things I had to say about Giant Drag: within 10 minutes of thinking them up, Annie Hardy, who is Giant Drag, wevs, and does great stage banter, made better jokes about them than I could.
I was like “wow, she’s a lot more waifish than I remember”, and she made jokes about having to watch her hipbones when she slung the guitar now.
I was like “wow, back in ‘05 she was kind of doing what everyone got to now even after that Coachella '06 Daft Punk show got everyone into DJing and then Best Coast/Wavves had to rescue them!” Also, wow that internet GIFlike background of strobing cats and inverted crosses and psychedelic backgrounds is kinda trendriding! And she was like “hey Echoplex kids, what live bands do you like?” and when the answers were Giant Drag/Giant Drag/Best Coast/Giant Drag she was like “oh, did I hear you say 'Better Coast’?”
I was like “oh huh she rides her old songs well” and she was like “I’m tired to fuck of playing these songs, this ends now”. Which I think she was faking, she’s good at faking. She did give an exegesis on Kevin Is Gay that maybe made sense if you followed band drama.
So Giant Drag is awesome and was awesome and should be awesome. It’s a shame they didn’t have a new album to buy, I look forward to that.
That Daft Punk show, and the death of Indie 103.1, really fucked up the local scene in a way it’s only now recovering from.
In case you’re having trouble figuring out what to think about recent to-dos involving Etsy and/or Tumblr, I made a handy flowchart for you!
I think Stevie Nicks is in this year or something?
